For many of my clients their spiritual connection is directly related to their ability to communicate with someone or more than one loved one who has left our physical presence.  Spiritual guidance and grief can be complexly intertwinded.  Receiving my training in IADC® enhanced my ability to take clients to the next level in the grieving process.  This technique helps grieving people experience a reconnection with someone who has passed away, resulting in healing deep sadness associated with grief.

The method of inducing this experience, called “induced after-death communication” or was discovered in 1995 by Dr. Allan L. Botkin, Psy.D. Consistent, robust clinical observations by a growing number of IADC® trained therapists across a broad variety of clients indicate that IADC® heals the deep sadness that is associated with death of a friend or loved one, and the results appear to hold up very well over time. Most people believe their experiential reconnection is real, but they do not have to believe in the authenticity of the experience to benefit from its profound healing effects.

The method uses EMDR, but in a quite different way from standard EMDR. The research that supports EMDR does not necessarily support the way it is used in these treatments.

Assess Grief Status

The first session is designed to for the therapist to understand the significance of the loss and summary of your grief process.  This stage helps to clear any residue that might interfere with the techniques.  During this session the therapist explains the methodology and technique to be used during the Full Experience and allows time for the client to express any reservations or concerns.

Session 1 sets the stage for the full IADC® experience.

Full Experience Using EMDR

The IADC experience is unique for each client. It is always a positive experience. A connection with a loved one is made, often in an unexpected way.

When the client is able to be open and receptive to "whatever want to show up" the success rate increases dramatically. An 80-90% effectiveness has been Patricia's experience with clients.

Optional: Process Experience

The IADC® experience can have a profound impact and often clients desire a session to process their experience and how they will integrate it into their therapeutic journey.
